Arka AI (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the ActionScan mobile application (“the App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
1. Overview
ActionScan is an AI-powered document and object scanner. You can scan documents, capture objects, use AI Scan, Live Insight, and Batch Scan modes to digitize and analyze content. The App provides AI-powered actions including summarization, extraction, translation, contract risk analysis, form assistance, knowledge capture, and AI chat. To deliver these AI features, the App sends certain data to our backend server and third-party AI services. This policy explains what data is collected, who receives it, and how it is used.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Data You Provide Directly
- •Account data: Email address and authentication credentials when you create an account or sign in.
- •Scanned documents: Images you capture using the document scanner, object scanner, AI Scan, Live Insight, or Batch Scan modes.
- •OCR text: Text extracted from your scanned documents via on-device optical character recognition.
- •Chat messages: Questions you ask about your scanned documents via the AI chat feature.
- •Digital signatures: Signature data you create for signing documents within the App.
2.2 Data Collected Automatically
- Camera access: The App accesses your camera only when you initiate a scan. Camera frames processed in Live Insight mode are analyzed in real-time and are not stored.
- •We do not collect contacts, location, calendar data, or browsing history.
- •We do not use cookies or third-party analytics SDKs.
3. How Your Data Is Used
3.1 AI-Powered Analysis
When you use AI actions (summarize, extract, translate, contract risk, form assist, knowledge capture, or chat), the App sends your scanned document text and/or images to our backend server hosted on Vercel. Our backend forwards the data to third-party AI services for processing.
- •The AI processes your data solely to generate the requested analysis or response.
- •We do not store your document content on our servers after processing is complete.
- •Your data is not used to train AI models.
3.2 Local Storage
- Scanned documents, OCR text, AI insights, chat history, signatures, and folder organization are stored locally on your device using SwiftData.
- •Document images are stored on-device only.
- •You can delete any scan, folder, or all data at any time from within the App or by uninstalling it.
3.3 Cloud Sync (Optional)
If you enable cloud sync, scan metadata may be synced to our servers to allow access across devices. Document images remain on-device. You can disable sync at any time in Settings.
3.4 Subscriptions and Credits
Subscription and credit purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or billing details. We track credit balances associated with your account to manage AI action usage.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:

These services receive your data only when you actively request an AI action. Data is transmitted securely over HTTPS. AI providers do not retain your data after processing.
5. Data Retention
- •On our servers: Document content and images are processed in memory and are not stored after the AI response is returned. Account data (email, credit balance) is retained while your account is active.
- •On your device: Scans, AI insights, chat history, signatures, and folder structure are stored locally. This data is cleared when you delete scans or uninstall the App.
- •Third-party services: AI providers (Anthropic) do not retain your data after processing, as we use API configurations with data retention disabled.
6. Data Security
- •Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between the App, our backend, and third-party services is encrypted using HTTPS (TLS 1.2 or later).
- •Device encryption: Data stored on your device is protected by iOS device-level encryption.
- •Secure authentication: Authentication tokens are stored securely in the iOS Keychain.
- •No persistent storage: Document content is processed in memory on our servers and discarded after the AI response is returned.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Camera permission
Camera access is required for scanning but can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings. The App cannot scan without camera permission.
Delete your data
You can delete individual scans, folders, or all data from within the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. To delete your account and server-side data, contact us at privacy@arka-ai.com.
Cloud sync
Cloud sync is optional. You can disable it at any time in Settings, and your data will remain local to your device.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the App, please contact us and we will delete any associated data.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
