Privacy Policy — FixIQ
Last Updated: February 21, 2026
Arka AI (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the FixIQ mobile application (“the App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
1. Overview
FixIQ is a home repair diagnosis tool that uses artificial intelligence to analyze photos of home issues and provide repair guidance. To deliver this service, the App sends certain data to third-party AI services. This policy explains what data is collected, who receives it, and how it is used.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Data You Provide Directly
- Photos: Images you capture or select from your photo library when scanning a home issue.
- Text Descriptions: Optional text notes you provide to describe the issue.
- Voice Notes: Optional audio recordings you make to describe the issue. Voice notes are stored locally on your device and are not sent to any server or third party.
2.2 Data We Do Not Collect
- •We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials.
- •We do not collect your location, GPS data, or IP address.
- •We do not collect contacts, calendar data, or browsing history.
- •We do not use cookies or any tracking technologies.
- •We do not collect device identifiers for advertising or analytics purposes.
3. How Your Data Is Used
3.1 AI-Powered Diagnosis
When you initiate a scan, the App sends your photos and text description to our backend server hosted on Vercel (“FixIQ Backend”). Our backend forwards this data to Google Gemini (an AI model by Google, accessed through OpenRouter, a third-party AI routing service) to generate a repair diagnosis.
Specifically:
- •Photos are resized to a maximum of 1024 pixels and compressed as JPEG before being sent.
- •Your text description, if provided, is sent alongside the photos.
- •The AI processes your data solely to generate the diagnosis response.
- •Your data is not used to train AI models.
- •Your data is not retained by Google, OpenRouter, or any third party after processing.
3.2 Local Storage
- Scan records, photos, and diagnosis results are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- •This data remains on your device and is not uploaded to any server except as described in Section 3.1 during active diagnosis.
- •You can delete all locally stored data at any time via Settings > Clear All History.
3.3 Purchases
Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or billing details.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services when performing a diagnosis:
| Service | Provider | Purpose | Data Received |
|---|---|---|---|
| FixIQ Backend | Arka AI (hosted on Vercel) | Routes diagnosis requests | Photos, text descriptions |
| OpenRouter | OpenRouter, Inc. | AI model routing | Photos, text descriptions |
| Google Gemini | Google LLC | AI-powered image analysis and diagnosis generation | Photos, text descriptions |
These services receive your data only when you actively request a diagnosis by tapping “Analyze Issue.” Data is transmitted securely over HTTPS.
5. Data Retention
- •On your device: Scan records and photos are stored until you delete them via Settings > Clear All History, or until you uninstall the App.
- •On our servers: We do not store your photos or diagnosis data on our backend. Data passes through our server only to route the request to the AI service.
- •Third-party services: Google Gemini and OpenRouter do not retain your data after processing the diagnosis request.
6. Data Security
- •Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between the App, our backend, and third-party services is encrypted using HTTPS (TLS 1.2 or later).
- •Device encryption: Photos and scan data stored on your device are protected by iOS device-level encryption.
- •Secure credentials: We do not store API keys or sensitive credentials on-device in plain text; they are stored in the iOS Keychain.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Consent
The App requires your explicit consent before sending any data to third-party AI services. You are prompted to consent before your first scan, and again whenever a new version of the App is released.
Delete your data
You can delete all locally stored scans, photos, and diagnosis history at any time via Settings > Clear All History.
Camera permission
You can revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings. Without camera access, you can still select photos from your library.
No account required
The App does not require you to create an account, so there is no account data to manage.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the App, please contact us and we will delete any associated data.
9. Photos and Personal Information
Photos you capture may inadvertently contain personal information such as faces, addresses, license plates, or other identifiable details. We recommend avoiding capturing sensitive personal information in your photos. While such data would be processed only for diagnosis purposes and not retained by third parties, we encourage you to exercise caution.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
